Funding boost to advance gene therapy to stimulate retinal regeneration

A/Prof Raymond Wong was awarded funding support from the CASS Medincine/Science grant from the CASS Foundation to advance development of a gene therapy to stimulate regeneration of the retinal neurons, which would potentially offer a novel treatment for a number of retinal degenerative diseases including retinitis pigmentosa, age-related macular degeneration and Stargardt's disease.
